The Worm Moon & Total Lunar Eclipse

March begins with an extra special Full Moon Eclipse on the 3rd. This moon is called the Worm Moon, and will arrive on Tuesday, March 3rd at 11:33am UTC.

This Full Moon is different from others not only because it falls in the astrological sign of Virgo, but also because it is a full Lunar Eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon.

Eclipses change the game a bit when it comes to typical Full and New Moon work, however, with it falling on a Full Moon it changes less about what we do or how we do it and instead amplifies it.

Arriving as part of the first eclipse season of the year, and just before the Spring Equinox on March 19th (also coinciding with the New Moon on March 18th), this Full Moon Eclipse brings amplified support for massive change and recalibration in our lives.

Before the Full Moon Rituals: Tend to Your Nervous System

Before we dive into what that means and how to work with the specific energy, I want to bring something to your attention that is less talked about in the energetic full and new moon dialogues: how is your nervous system being supported during this time? What is your current level of nervous system capacity, flexibility and resiliency, and how could you work with your subconscious mind, body, energy healing, somatic inquiry and nervous system healing to better support your system through the recalibration and eventual integration of the change that this energetic period is likely to create within you and around you?

The Triangle of True Recalibration & Healing

I view parts of my work with people who feel disconnected or chronically unwell in reconnecting with themselves, increasing their capacity, and awakening their inner healer, like a triangle. This triangle has three points: the physical, the energetic, and the nervous system with the subconscious mind. Each of these areas impacts the other, but what I’m seeing a lot of lately is people who are utilizing spirituality and energetics to bypass the human body, nervous system and human experience. Not only does this not honor the human in the process, but it’s also less effective and encourages less sustainable and less tangible change.

Bringing the Body Back Into the Conversation

My lived experience and professional training in somatic healing have shown me that it’s time to bring the body and the nervous system back to the forefront. This is not to bypass the energetics or reduce the benefit of intuitive energy healing, but to bring each of these necessary systems into harmony, working together for a greater whole.

When Lunar Eclipse Energy Amplifies Change

What does it mean energetically and in how the energy shows up tangibly in our lives, that the Full Moon in Virgo on March 3rd is an eclipse? Well, that’s why I front-loaded with a dialogue about the nervous system.

When eclipses enter the picture, there is amplified potential for sudden change. Have you heard the term “eclipsed out of your life”? What this means is, during an eclipse we can experience sudden loss of situations, relationships, jobs, or other. It can feel jarring and require significant nervous system regulation support and recalibration, but it’s important to know that what dissolves during an eclipse is usually dissolving in perfect alignment with the highest and best of everyone involved.

Grasping vs. Co-Creating

This becomes exponentially more difficult when we are not willing co-creators of our lives and this process. When we are grasping or holding on in fear of losing something that is no longer in alignment with our highest and best selves, the Universe tends to remove it by force.

When we are able to attune to this energy and work with it in harmony with our physical bodies, energy bodies, nervous systems and subconscious programing, we can utilize our own intuitive discernment along with our free will to become active co-creators of our lives. What leaves our life at this time may not change, but our experience of it can become drastically different.

Virgo Themes: Refinement, Release & Discernment

When we blend this eclipse energy with the astrological energy of Virgo in conjunction with the Full Moon (by the way, it’s also Mercury Retrograde) we’re looking at themes of:

  • Releasing what is no longer in your highest good
  • Balancing this letting go with logical, balanced and methodical approaches
  •  Second chances and intuitive discernment for what is coming back around for a second chance, and what is returning for closure or to be fully released and let go
  • Routines and habits for health and wellbeing
  • Reflection and gentle optimism
  • What behaviours, routines, habits or beliefs have been limiting your growth
  • Refinement and revisiting finer details

Clear the Space Before the Rebirth

With this being the Full Moon closest to Spring Equinox, my recommendation is to release, release, release! We want to clear away the outdated societal conditioning, subconscious programing, limiting beliefs, habits and behaviours as well as the physical and energetic clutter in our lives and relationships so that we can create space for our manifestations to land when we work with the amplified New Moon and Spring Equinox energy two weeks later.

Step Into Your Role as Empowered Co-Creator and Manifestor

Those dynamics that have been draining you, causing hypervigilance or making your nervous system feel as though it’s on high alert? It’s time to step into your power and embody the empowered co-creator that you are and either detach or remove yourself from those dynamics and anything else that may be weighing you down and blocking you from fully stepping into the life of your dreams.
