Denise’s Guiding Principles

As I was meditating one morning with a mug of ceremonial cacao, in a small ritual that I do almost daily, a poem flowed through me which I feel called to share with you. It felt as though words were finally put to the truth that I knew in every cell of my being, of what it is – and is not – to be a “healer”.

This label, “healer”, is not one I sought out. In fact, I spent years reframing my work as “energy balancing” rather than healing, to avoid the misconceptions and dangerous, cult-like mentality that can, at times, come with the word Healer.

I have long appreciated this quote, “A healer does not heal you. A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your own inner healer, so that you may heal yourself.” – Maryam Hasnaa

We each have the power to be our own self-healers, and I hope to support this awakening within you.

As someone who is intimately connected and attuned to heart-centered, Universal energy, I call on my intuitive guidance and offer it out to you through my work. I trust that as I offer that which I am guided to, you will take what resonates for you and leave the rest behind. I trust in you to use your own intuitive discernment to know what is truly right for you at any given time, whether it be which program or offering to choose, or what guidance within that, that resonates for your highest and best path forward. One piece of what holds my work in a space of integrity is that I offer it out to you from a heart-centered space with detachment from outcome, trusting that you will only receive and integrate that which is in true alignment for you at that time.

Before, during and after any and all of my work, I set intentions to align with and surrender to, the highest and best of everyone involved. I lean into this intention as a guiding principle to remove my own ego or fear-based perceptions and programming, detach from outcome, and trust that I don’t need to take control or force my will upon you – knowing that if I did, it would no longer be in alignment with the highest and best of everyone involved.

All healers who walk the Earth are people too. We have our own flaws, egos, attachments, shadows and everything that comes with this life in human form – just like you. We should not be placed above you in your mind’s hierarchy. Doing so creates the potential to repeat many cycles of harm that have taken place for generations, within so-called healing communities. It is time that we, as a society, step away from guru culture and awaken to the inner-healer that resides within each of us.

It is my hope that through our work together, you will shed what has been limiting you and begin to access resources from within.

Thank you for being here, I will now share the poem that came through me. While neither this article nor the poem is an all-encompassing list, I felt that it so beautifully encompasses much of my beliefs and guiding principles for this work.

Please note that I am not a trained medical professional. “Healing” in Energy Healing is used in the holistic sense of supporting and balancing the mind, body and spirit. As someone working with Energy Healing/Balancing modalities, I do not believe that I heal you. I work with the energy field to support you in coming into greater alignment and deep relaxation, where your body’s natural healing abilities can take place. From here I hold the space and offer guidance to support you in this process. My work is offered with an intent to support you in balancing your own wholeness. I am not trained to offer medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment and nothing said in any of my work should be misconstrued as such. When doing this type of deep inner work, it is common for discomfort to arise which can at times include the temporary worsening of symptoms, it is recommended to stay well hydrated and to be mindful of extra rest and gentle detox supports during your integration periods. If any of your symptoms flare up, or new ones present in the hours or days after a session, I would invite you to quiet your mind and tune in to your body with curiosity. As you tune in to your body you may wish to just listen and observe what it has to share with you. If that feels unfamiliar to you, you could start by asking your body, “What is this symptom communicating?” and connecting with the small, quiet voice within. We could go much deeper into this, but it would be a class in itself! For now, I’d invite you to simply begin with curiosity and an open mind. As always, should you feel that you are nearing crisis or have any concerns about any of your presenting symptoms or your health in any way, please always consult your medical doctor or other applicable medical professional.

Becoming a healer cannot just be taught.

The various teachings, yes, they’re crucial,
but the healer doesn’t become from those lessons.

The healer becomes when they walk through the fire themselves.

When they face their own shadows and welcome them in with love.

When they take all they’ve been taught,
and apply it first to themselves.

Integrating the teachings fully,
now naturally moving, from an embodied space.

Observing as they traverse the spiral
coming to the same points, again and again,
only now, from a new way of being.

Ready to learn, integrate, and embody once more
with an inner-knowing that this cycle never ends
while we are in human form.

Only then they become
someone who can hold space with integrity,
for the healing process of another.

For a healer should not force their healing onto you.

This is a dance of consent –
of knowing where I end and you begin.

It is an honoring –
of another’s free will, your right to choose.

It is an intimate witnessing
of another’s unravelling.

It is an act of mirroring
reflecting back to you, your own healer within.

It is offering the light
that guides you home to that space of truth and wisdom that you have always carried,
even if deeply buried.

It is holding the energetic space,
knowing that with access to the right tools your ability to heal yourself,
becomes inevitable.

The healer is the guide;
the one who knows the way because they’ve walked it many times within themselves,
and continue to, to this day.

The healer is the witness
The observer
The mirror
The energetic space holder
The co-creator of the sacred container

It is you who chooses to take their hand in this dance.
It is you who chooses to walk your path.
It is you who chooses to allow your shadows to rise and be seen.
It is you who chooses to begin to feel all that is asking to be felt.
It is you who chooses to do the work to heal.

It is you who chooses,
to come home, to yourself.
